Honey Bees

Dead Cert Pest Control - Bees

Control

Removal of colonies is complex and specialist work. From initial survey, to planning, access via scaffolding if necessary, to extraction of bees, honey and comb, to transport and relocation to a new hive sufficiently far from the site of the old nest, and finally making good after the removal (which may need specialist trades to reinstate – ensuring not just the integrity of the property but that it also remains pest free in the future.

We cover a wider area in this line of work than all other fields as most removals are a two day job so we can travel between the central belt of Scotland and the North of England.

The main objective of this work is obviously the safety of the bees, but also personnel involved and other people in the vicinity.

Once removed the bees will be taken to a quarantine apiary and observed to ensure they are free from disease prior to their addition to one of our production apiaries.

Feral colonies of honey bees can cause an issue in all types of buildings – from issues caused by honey ingress to the potential issues from an ill-tempered colony to residents or users of the building.

Most of us are now becoming aware of the vital role that bees of all types (not just honey bees) have within the ecosystem around us – not just locally but globally too. Therefore we do not kill bees of any species but will endeavour to remove and relocate wherever possible.
